Bakersfield College women's basketball team beat Citrus to cap off their very first undefeated home record.

BC beat Citrus 75-64 on Feb. 11 to stay atop the Western State Conference. BC got 28 points from freshman forward Brittany Smith and 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists  from sophomore guard Jausecca Cockeral.

BC got to a fast start building an 18-8 lead by outrebounding Citrus. They continued that run by building 34-23 lead at halftime.

When the second half started BC started slow and Citrus started to be more aggressive and got back in the game behind guard Brianna Barfield, who scored 17 of her 20 points in the second half.

"We did good in the first, but we just tightened up in the second half. They kept coming back and we were just playing not to lose," said BC coach Paula Dahl.

With BC leading 67-63 and only two minutes left in the game, Barfield was called for her fifth foul on a loose ball.

"She's a good player, so I think it was a big moment in the game when she fouled out," said Dahl.

BC outscored Citrus 8-1 to finish the game thanks to some clutch free throws.

"Our free throws helped us seal the win. The refs were calling an extremely tight game, so it was huge for us to keep making them," she said.

Dahl added that they're in first place in the WSC and as long as they win their final game they will get the conference title.

BC is scheduled to play their final game of the regular season at West L.A. on Feb. 18.
