Aaron Chávez

Aaron enters his 19th year with the men's basketball program. The first fifteen were as an assistant coach, and on August 5, 2020-2022, he was named Interim Head of Basketball Operations.

During his time as BC men's basketball assistant coach (2005-2020) and as head coach from 2021-present, the following have been accomplished:

  • Top 5 in Scoring Average for 5 Consecutive Seasons

Prior to Bakersfield College he was an assistant men’s basketball coach at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY from 2004-2005. Highlights from his time at Bard include:

From 2001-2004 he was an assistant boys’ basketball coach at West Las Vegas High School in Las Vegas, NM. Highlights from his time there include:

  • 1 Regional Championship
  • 15 All-District Players
  • 7 North-South All-Star Players 
  • 4 All-State Players

He holds a B.A. in Mass Communication with a Minor in Coaching and an M.A. in Human Performance and Sport from New Mexico Highlands University located in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
