Alvarez has been coaching BC football special teams since 2010. In that time he has mentored and instructed many BC kickers and punters that have gone to play at the next level including Carson Olivas (2019, UCLA), Nathan De Jager (2019, UNLV) and Paxton Winders (2020 Western Illinois). His father was also a special teams coach at BC, coaching for over 30 years.

As a student athlete at Foothill High School, Alvarez was an All-League kicker in 2003 and an All-Area punter in 2004. He then went on to become the starting punter at Southern University in 2005.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Arizona.

Alvarez resides in his hometown of Bakersfield, CA.
