Castro joined the BC football coaching staff as offensive line coach in 2020 after having served in the same capacity here from 2006-09.

Other stops in his career have included serving as an undergraduate assistant/video coordinator at San Jose State University (1999-2001), as an offensive line coach/strength and conditioning coach at West Hills College (2001-05) and most recently as offensive line coach at West Hills High School.

He is proud of the great young men he’s coached who’ve gone on to do great things and be productive members of society. Some of them include:

  • Junior Louissaint (offensive tackle), Troy State - 1st Team All Sun Belt Team, Finalist for the Pontiac Game-Changing Performance of the Year 2003. Currently is a Troy State sideline reporter.
  • Jorell Bostrom (offensive guard), Auburn - member of the Cam Newton led 2011 BCS National Champions, Alabama state champion of USA Powerlifting, was hired as assistant director of player development Auburn.
  • Gary Sumlin (offensive guard), Western Illinois - started 22 games in two years. Currently is a Bakersfield High School Security Supervisor.
  • Brock Mueller (offensive guard), Wingate University - 1st Team All-Conference. Currently serving as a Bakersfield Police Officer.

Castro started his college playing career at BC playing offensive guard from 1995-96 and was a 1st-Team All-Conference selection. He then transferred to San Jose State where he played the 1997-98 seasons.

He holds an A.A. in Liberal Studies from BC and a B.S. in Kinesiology from San Jose State.

Castro resides in Bakersfield with his wife Cindy and their five kids.
