For the first time in 17 years, Porterville College hosted a men's basketball tournament. The Pirates made the most of the homecoming as they nearly came away with a couple of wins. PC settled for a split after beating El Camino College 84-75 on Saturday. On Friday, Porterville came up short in an overtime loss against Bakersfield College.

Dominic King scored 41 points over the two contests to lead Porterville while Da'Morea Green totaled 34 points and 23 rebounds.

PC moved to 3-4 overall after the tournament and returns to action on Friday (Jan. 7) when it hosts Victor Valley College in a 6 p.m. non-conference game.

Porterville 84, El Camino 75
Green was on fire for the Pirates, as he shot a perfect 9-for-9 from the field on his way to a team-high 22 points in PC's win on Saturday to close the tourney.

Porterville held a narrow 44-41 lead at halftime and was able to fight off El Camino for PC's third win of the season.

King poured in 20 points while Treager Wallace had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Green added nine boards to his impressive night and Darion "DJ" Wilson was big off the bench once again with 12 points and 6 rebounds.

Bakersfield 95, Porterville 85 (OT)
Porterville erased a six-point halftime deficit (41-35) and outscored Bakersfield 46-40 in the second to force overtime.

But the Pirates couldn't keep up with a deeper Bakersfield bench and were outscored 14-4 in the extra period. PC also had no answer for BC's Shahadah Camp who scored a game-high 33 points.

King put up 21 points to lead the Pirates in scoring while Green had a monster game with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

PC also got double-digit scoring efforts from Kenton Lei (15 points). Tayshawun Bradford (12 points), and Elijah Cardenas (11 points).
