Falcons Battle Hard on the Road, But Unable to Upset Top Ranked Opponents

Folsom, CA – FLC Softball (8-10, 2-1 Big-8) finds themselves in a three-game slump after losing to Sacramento City College (13-2-1, 1-0 Big-8), Palomar College (11-0), and Bakersfield College (10-6, 3-0).

Thursday, March 2nd

The 18th Ranked Falcons traveled to Sacramento City College for a conference matchup against the 7th ranked Panthers. The Falcons scored 1 run on 8 hits while the Panthers scored 6 runs on 8 hits. Starting pitcher for the Falcons, Isabella Savala, pitched 5 innings and allowed 8 hits, 5 earned runs, 3 walks, and struck out 1. The lone run for the Falcons came in the top of the 7th Inning when Haylee Reginatto hit a solo home run for a final score of 6-1.

Saturday, March 4th (Game 1)

In their first game of Saturday's doubleheader, the Falcons faced current number 1 ranked, Palomar College for the first of two, non-conference games. The Falcons started off strong, going up 3-1 after two innings, and were one inning away from upsetting the top ranked team, but the Comets put together a 7th inning rally that scored 7 runs as Palomar College stayed undefeated by winning the game 8-3.

Adriana Vasquez – 2-for-3 1 run.

Haylee Reginato – 1-for-3, 2 RBI.

 

Saturday, March 4th (Game 2)

The final game of the weekend for FLC was against the home team, Bakersfield College who is currently ranked 8th in 3CFCA State Rankings. In this game the Falcons faced strong pitching by the Renegades and were not able to score until the seventh inning when Adriana Vazquez brought in Patricia Rodriguez off an RBI single. Also picking up RBIs for the Falcons in the 7th inning were Emma Gaytan and Isabela Savala. The 3-run, seventh inning rally, however, was not enough as the game ended with two Falcons left on base and a final score of 6-3 in favor of the home team.
