W. VOLLEYBALL: ROUND ONE SOCAL PLAYOFFS

Knocking out higher seed No. 16 Cuesta College in the play-in game last Saturday, No. 17 Fullerton fell in round one of the SoCal Regional Playoffs at No. 1 Bakersfield College 3-1 Tuesday night.

The Hornets were fired up for a chance to take down the number one team in Southern California throwing the first blow. Fullerton nabbed a quick 5-0 advantage in the first set putting the Renegades on their heels. BC did it's best to get back in it, however Fullerton was too much winning the first set 25-18. Set two was a different tale. The Hornets woke the sleeping giant as the Renegades took an 8-3 lead and then pushed forward to win it 25-14. Going on an early 7-0 run, the third set was all Gades as they ran through Fullerton 25-15. The fourth set began as a dogfight with both teams trading points. Bakersfield took an 11-7 lead, but Fullerton kept pace as the score pushed to 17-14. The Renegades maintained their lead imposing 25-20 win ending the Hornets fine season.

McKenna Mokry led FC in kills hammering down 12, while Hannah Wilmes followed up with 11 kills of her own. Wilmes had a big night adding 14 digs and had a game-high 8 solo blocks. Faith Webb had 7 kills with 16 digs, and Hannah Tobin scooped up 24 digs. Alicia Isa Domingo delivered 28 assists with 9 digs.
