Citrus College out-hit Bakersfield College Tuesday, but couldn't capitalize and dropped a 12-6 loss.

The Owls slip to 14-16 on the year, 7-6 in the Western State Conference. The Renegades improve to 8-22 overall, 3-10 in conference.

Devon Diaz had a solid performance at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Conner McKinney finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs and five RBIs after knocking two home runs in the game.

Bakersfield struck first with three runs in the bottom of the second, but Citrus broke through in the third.

Jared Gener singled to left and worked his way to third with two outs. Diaz stepped up to the plate and blasted a double to right field, allowing Gener to easily come home.

The Renegades got the run back and added one for good measure in the bottom half of the inning to put the Owls in a 5-1 hole.

In the top of the fourth with a runner on, McKinney drilled his first home run over the left field fence.

Bakersfield plated three runs in the fourth and four runs in the sixth to jump out to an 11-3 lead.

McKinney kept hope alive with a three-run shot in the seventh, but the Renegades wouldn't let the Owls get any closer and secured the 12-6 result.

Citrus hosts Bakersfield on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. before closing the series out back in Bakersfield.
