Beach Volleyball Splits to Snag First Win of the Season

RESULTS

The Riverside City College women's beach volleyball team hit the road for the second straight weekend on Friday morning as they faced off against the host Mt. San Antonio College Mounties and the Bakersfield College Renegades. The Tigers were swept by Mt. San Antonio, but roared back with a 3-2 win over Bakersfield.

It was an impressive second match for Riverside as their second, third and fourth pairings got the job done leading to the win.

Sophomore duo Mya Castro and Hoku Goday earned the lone three set victory. They lost the first set 8-21, but came back to win the next two sets 21-15 and 15-12. Freshman tandem Jada Cottom and Kelly Moore worked a 21-14, 21-18 win at the third position, while freshman pairing Nina Peay and Audrey Elias stayed hot leading to a 21-19, 21-9 win.

Freshman top duo Azriel White and Lanah Bergen fell in two sets, while freshman fifth squad Kaylee Torres and Katie Moore followed with a two-set loss.

Riverside was unable to get any momentum going in the opening contest against the Mounties as each set ended in straight sets.
