Citrus College won the first set but couldn't hold off Bakersfield in a 3-1 defeat Friday (19-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-17).

The Owls drop to 7-16 overall and 3-7 in Western State Conference-South action. The Renegades improve to 12-18 on the year and 8-3 in conference.

Sabrina Evangelista led the Owls with 13 kills and a team-high 10 digs, while Caren Stone followed with 11 kills. Vanessa Marquez posted 34 assists and posted a team-high 10 digs.

The Owls return home to close out the conference season, hosting Antelope Valley College on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
