OFF & RUNNING - CONSOLATION CHAMPS

After dropping its first two games of the season, the FC women's basketball team turned it around winning their next two games at the Riverside City College Tournament over the weekend.

Opening the tournament on Thursday against San Jose, the Hornets struggled with their shooting (18%) and lost 51-38.

On Friday, Fullerton locked down the first win of the season; a 62-49 win over Bakersfield. Lilly Ballestero led FC with 13 points and 4 rebounds. Bri Landeros followed with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Angela Zendejas nearly had a double-double with 11 points and 9 boards.

The Hornets became the Consolation Champs after defeating Solano 55-53 in a close one. Up by a point with 8 seconds to left in the game, Lilly Ballestero made it two after hitting the needed free throw. From there, the FC defense held strong for the win. Bri Landeros led the way with 18 points and 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the young season. Lilly Ballestero scored 10 points, while Jasmine Arnold and Sarah Shaw put in 9.

Up Next: Fullerton (2-2 overall) will play Oxnard this Friday, November 18th at the Glendale College Crossover. Game time is at 5:00 pm.
