Tiger Baseball Scrimmages Bakersfield And Alumni In Preparation For 2023

Before officially opening the new season on Saturday in Reedley, the Reedley College baseball team had a little fun last Saturday.

DeAnza comes to town to open the season at 1 pm Saturday. But last Saturday's Alumni scrimmage highlighted 28 former Tigers returning to the diamond. That featured a matchup between 2017 graduate Arturo Aguilar and his younger brother Aaron. Arturo ended up walking him on five pitches.

The scrimmage highlighted Tiger starting pitcher Alex Trukki, who allowed only one base runner (on an error) in four innings of work. Leo Arrequin, Lee Trevino, and Mike Rios each had two hits for the Tigers in a 10-2 win in the seven-inning contest. Ryan Tiger, Rios, and Trevino all recorded doubles for the Tigers.

After the game, everyone enjoyed dinner in the cafeteria. Hopefully, some of the kinks will be out of the scoreboard and sound system before the college hosts a four-team tournament featuring Oxnard, Santa Ana, and Sierra College, all facing the Tigers in a round-robin format on Feb. 2-4.
