'GADES DROP SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL IN EXTRA INNINGS

The Bakersfield College Baseball Team (0-2) came within three outs of picking up their first win of 2016, but Fullerton College (2-0) spoiled a strong start from Luke Andrews to win 4-3 in 10 innings Saturday.

Andrews surrendered just four hits over six innings while striking out seven and walking just two, but was charged with three unearned runs on a day when BC committed a whopping six errors in the field.

Harley Lopez tripled in the fifth and scored Harry Tyler to put BC within a run, and then tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI groundout that scored Konner Dodge from third.

But in the top of the tenth inning, with Hudson Hartley on in relief, Fullerton's Todd Yost doubled down the right field line to score Aaron Lizar with the eventual game-winner.

BC went down in order in the bottom of the tenth, despite some spirited at-bats.

The Renegades will play Moorpark at 2:30pm Saturday to wrap up the opening weekend.
