ANDREWS CHOPS DOWN SEQUOIAS AS BC BLANKS COS 4-0

Luke Andrews was very good Thursday, but unfortunately, Pierce's Tom Wilson was great.

The Bakersfield College Baseball team (3-3) cruised to a 4-0 victory over College of the Sequoias on the strength of a sparkling start from Luke Andrews (1-0) on the road Sunday.

Andrews surrendered just six hits and held COS scoreless for eight innings on Sunday, while striking out three and waking just one.

BC's defensive woes seemed to let up a little, as just two balls were misplayed, and COS couldn't parlay those fumbles into runs.

Coach Painton dialed up classic baseball strategy to hang four on tough-luck loser Sagun Gainey (0-1), but it was COS reliever Troy Stainbrook who gave up three runs on five walks and a base hit in just three and a third innings.

BC will play at home Thursday against El Camino in game one of a three game series.
