Baseball Picks Up Second Win of the Season

Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted Moorpark College on Saturday at Gerry Collis Field and came away with a 7-3 victory.  

The Renegades exploded offensively in the 4th inning. A Trey Harmon grounder up the center scored two while next batter up, Landn Kauk hit a single to center field that brought in one more. The fourth run was scored on an errant throw by the Moorpark catcher trying to the throw out the runner stealing 2nd base, which allowed another BC runner to score. RBI singles followed that from Ashanti Ross and Will Reynolds to put the Renegades ahead, 6-0.

In the 6th, Zach Williams grabbed another RBI single to extend the Renegade lead to 7-0.  

The Raiders were able to mount a small comeback in 9th, scoring 3 runs, but the Renegades eventually escaped the inning for their second victory of the young season.   

Alejandro Murillo got the start and the win for the Renegades. He threw 4 strikeouts and held the Raiders to 3 hits and 0 walks in five innings pitched. Michael Kesse relieved in the 6th, Lane Cowen came in to pitch the 7th and Benji Caggianelli pitched the 8th. Desi Garcia and Ruben Barron started out the 9th before Gabe Ulloa came in for the save.

With the win, BC moves to 2-0 on the season.

The Renegades will next play at Moorpark on Tuesday Jan. 29th, at 2pm.
