BAKERSFIELD, CA - After 27 highly successful years at the helm of the BC baseball program, Coach Tim Painton has decided to hang up his ball cap and move to Arizona with his wife to be closer to their children. While everyone here at BC respects that decision, there is no doubt that he will be sorely missed.
During his nearly three decades in charge of the Renegades baseball team, Coach Painton has amassed a school record 624 wins. In the process of racking up such an impressive total of victories Coach Painton has instilled in all his players the importance of hard work and discipline.
He's been more than just a coach to the hundreds of young men he's had on his teams over the years. Coach Painton has served in a plethora of roles including that of mentor, advisor, advocate, teacher, just to name a few. He's even had the underappreciated task of being the headgrounds keeper of Gerry Collis Field.
All of Coach Painton's hard work and dedication to the BC baseball program over the years has paid off in several ways. His teams, which almost always had a winning record, have won four conference titles. He's coached 16 All-Americans and more than 200 players who have earned scholarships to go on and play at four-year colleges, with several making it to professional baseball. Five have even reached the Major Leagues.
So, after 27 years it is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye and good luck to a man that has meant so much to Bakersfield College in general and the BC baseball team specifically.
