"The kids are excited and energetic," Offensive Coordinator Carl Dean said, "It was nice to get out there and put helmets on…and we are excited about putting pads on this Saturday, because it's a good measuring stick to get a little bit of an idea to see where we are at as a team, and at certain positions."
While shaping up the roster and seeing where different positional battles may lie is on the coaching checklist-and has probably been for months-Coach Dean has a bigger concern.
"We might be getting into some contact soon, but we want to stay healthy," Dean said.
Coach Reggie Bolton echoed Dean's sentiments.
"This was day one, and it's good to see the kids working hard, but I'm not looking to deep into the future. We take this program one day at a time," Bolton said.
