Covina, CA - The Renegade football team opened up the 2018 season on the road Saturday evening against Mt. SAC at Covina District Field.

The Mounties won the opening coin toss and elected to receive the ball to start the game. On their opening drive Hykeen Massey found an open hole and ran 44 yds to the endzone to put the Mounties on the board first, 7-0. A few series later, after a fumbled snap on a Mountie punt, the Renegades found themselves with favorable field position starting their second drive of the day inside the Mountie 20 yard line. Five plays later, Josh Medina connected with Shane Jones who found the end zone to even the score 7-7 after a Nathan DeJager extra point.

Mt. SAC would then put on a 75yd, 12-play drive that ended in a Mountie TD and put them back ahead 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.

BC then answered with a long 94 yd, 11 play drive to start the second quarter, but were forced to settle for a Nathan DeJager 24 yd field goal after the Mt. SAC defense held. Jeremiah Johnson then intercepted Mt. SAC quarterback Steven Nava and return the ball to the Mountie 5 yard line. Two plays later the Shane Jones scored a 2yd rushing TD and with the DeJager extra point the Renegades took their only lead of the game at 17-14.

Mt. SAC then went on to score two unanswered touchdowns and tack on a 37 yard field goal before halftime to go into the locker room with a 31-17 lead.

The Renegades then executed a 6 play 79 yard drive and found the endzone on 2 yd pass from Medina to Cam Roberson and with the DeJager extra point cut the lead to 24-38. From that point BC was unable to score and the Mounties added a late touchdown to win the game on a final score of 24-45.
