Bakersfield, CA - The Renegade football team hosted Moorpark College on Saturday, Nov. 3rd in Memorial Stadium and came away with a huge 31-0 victory over the Moorpark Raiders.

The first quarter of the game was scoreless for both teams and saw Renegade kicker Cameron De Jager miss his first field goal of the year from 35 yards out. It wasn't until the 2nd quarter when Cameron Roberson started the scoring for the Renegades returning a Moorpark punt 77 yards for the first BC touchdown of the evening. Justin Harrington then picked off a Moorpark pass and returned the ball to the Moorpark 28 yard line. Three plays later Jacob Irby handed the ball to Elisha Ortiz and he scampered 5 yards into the endzone to go up 14-0. With 1:14 before the end of the half Roberson took a second punt return 81 yards to the endzone for his second touchdown of the game and put BC up 21-0 at the half.

In the second half the BC defense continued to hold the Moorpark offense scoreless and the offense added a 37 yard De Jager field goal in the third quarter. The final Renegade touchdown came off another Ortiz 5 yard run to the endzone to cap a 3 play 56 yard drive at the begining of the 4th quarter. From there both sides remained scoreless and the score became final at 31-0.

At halftime of the game long-time BC athletic trainer Fred Smith was honored for his 35 years of service to the college and countless student athletes. Smith, a CCCATA Hall of Fame inductee, will call it a career in January 2019.

With the win the Renegades improve to 6-3 on the season and 3-1 in conference play. Next Saturday they will travel south to face the #1 team in the state, College of the Canyons, in their final regular season game.
