Football Falls in Season Opener To Mt. SAC

Bakersfield, CA - The Renegade football team opened up the 2019 football season hosting Mt. SAC on the newly installed turf of Memorial Stadium and came away with the lop-sided loss 34-7. 

It was all Mt. SAC throughout the game as they started the scoring with 2:37 left in the 1st quarter after a six-play 89 yard drive to take a lead from which they would not look back from.

In the second quarter, Mt. SAC put up two more touchdown's while BC was able to get their lone score of the evening off a 28-yard pick-six return by Fano Maui (So., Taft HS). At the break BC was only down two scores, 20-7. 

The Mounties wasted no time in getting back on the board early in the third to extend the lead with a four-play, 14 yard drive that came after Mt. SAC blocked the BC punt to gain extremely favorable field position for the short TD drive. The final score of the game for the Mounties came on long 44 yard TD that sealed the final 34-7 score. 

Offensively, BC managed only 154 yards of total offense with 10 first downs, while the Mounties amassed 420 yard of total offense with 16 first downs. 

With the loss, BC falls to 0-1 on the season and will next travel to face El Camino this coming Saturday, September 14th at 6pm. The game will be live-streamed through this link: https://www.ustream.tv/channel/bc-renegades-athletics
