Costa Mesa, CA - Spurred on by two rushing touchdowns from Isaiah Martin in the first half, Renegade football ran by the Orange Coast College Pirates to capture their second victory of the season heading into the bye week.
The first Martin touchdown came just four minutes into the game on a 5-yard run to the endzone that capped off an eight play, 55 yard drive.
The game remained 7-0 BC until Orange Coast decided to line-up for a 50 yard field goal with 5:02 left in the second quarter that they converted for their lone points of the evening. The Renegades wouldn't go into the half quietly though as they would answer the field goal back with an eight play, 70 yard drive that ended with a Braden Wingle pass to Martin who would scamper in from 27 yards out for his second touchdown of the game. The Renegades forced and recovered a fumble on the ensuing Pirate drive which set up Wingle to connect with LaBrevon Austin for a 16 yard pitch and catch touchdown and go into the half up 21-3.
BC's final touchdown of the game would come at the start of the 4th quarter with Wingle lining up under center on the one-inch line and taking the QB keeper into the endzone for his first touchdown of the season.
The Renegade defense held OCC to just 141 yards of total offense on the night. Aaron Morgan, Daniel Kraskey, Steven Roland, Holden Williams and Devon Zinn all contributed for six total sacks. Justin Harrington, Brock Mather and Bryce Moore all collected one interception each on the evening as well.
BC piled up 348 yards of total offense on the Pirates. Leading BC was Wingle who was 16/22 for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Martin had 19 carries for 92 yards with one rushing and one receiving touchdown.
The Renegades head into the bye week with a record of 2-3 and will next be in action starting league play for the homecoming game on Saturday, October 19th at 6pm hosting Ventura College in Memorial Stadium.
