Men's Basketball Grabs Big Conference Win at Home

Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College men's basketball team hosted Santa Monica College at the Gil Bishop Sports Center in a Western State Conference matchup and came away with a big win at home, 77-74.

The game started out and remained close with the Corsairs maintaining a slight advantage. BC managed to take their first lead of the game with eight minutes left in the half. Jeffrey Lee put the Renegades ahead going into halftime, 29-28 on a buzzer beating 3-pointer.

The second half continued to be a competitive battle. The Renegades however, held the lead throughout to take their third conference win of the season.

Shahadah Camp led the Renegades with 22 points. Anieus Medrano added 21 points with Marcus Jones pulling in 8 rebounds. The Renegades totaled 15 steals and Santa Monica turned the ball over 30 times to contribute to the win for BC.

With the win, the Renegades improve to 15-8 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

Their next game will be on the road against conference opponent College of the Canyons on Saturday, Feb. 9th at 5pm.
