Men's Soccer Wins Big At Home

Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade Men's Soccer team hosted Sequoias on Tuesday evening in Memorial Stadium and came away with a huge 4-2 win. 

Edgar Gonzalez (Fr.) opened the scoring in the 15th minute on a free kick to put the Renegades up early, 1-0. Jorge Pimentel (Fr.) scored in the 18th minute, assisted by Jose Lara (So.), to put the Renegades up 2-0 heading into the half.

In the 47th minute, Lara scored off a header on a pass from Anthony Ponce to go up 3-0. COS added to the Renegade total with an own-goal in the 57th minute. In the 77th minute COS added a goal and then again with under 2 minutes to play they scored again to make the final 4-2. 

"It felt like we took control of the game", commented Lara, "We knew where to go...It was our game. We all felt as a group we were confident enough to do that and just take over the game."

"I'm happy for them", said Head Coach Vayron Martinez, "They've been working hard this whole year so I'm happy for the them and this is a credit to thier hard work. They trust each other and they believe in each other and that's the most important thing. You can feel the atmosphere on the bench"

With the victory, BC moves to 4-2 on the season. Next up, they head to play Fresno on Friday, September 21 at 4:00 pm.
