The Bakersfield College Men's Swim team made a strong showing at the 2017 John Joseph/WSC Pentathlon on February 10th, 2017 at the Buenaventura Swim Club in Ventura, CA.

Wasco product Steve Santana finished third overall with a total time of 4:52.06, one of just seven swimmers in the 56-man field to break the five minute barrier. 

His teammate Brian Bender finished eighth, narrowly missing the sub-five minute club less than half a second with a time of 5:00.36. 

The annual event is comprised of five different swimming events; the 100 Fly, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Freestyle, and 100 Individual Medley.
