Bakersfield College Softball (2-3) shutout Taft College (0-1) 7-0 in their home opener at the Dean and Adah Gay Sports Complex Thursday night.

"We hit the ball well, and we played solid in the field, and we haven't been able to do those things all at the same time yet this season, so it was nice to have it come together. This is what I expected," Coach Christie Hill said.

McKenna Valencia also had her game come back together after getting roughed up in two consecutive starts. The freshman pitcher picked up the win while only giving up two hits, walking three, and striking out six Cougars.

BC won't play again at home until February 17th when they will host defending State Champion Santiago Canyon.
