Softball Sweeps Riverside in Doubleheader

Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade Softball team hosted Riverside for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the Dean & Adah Gay Softball complex.

In the first game, BC jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second before Riverside answered with three runs of their own in the top of the third. Riverside looked poised to win the game after scoring four in the top of the seventh, but the Renegades came back in the bottom half of the inning to bring four of their own across and send the game into extra innings.

In the 11th Riverside put a run across, but BC was able to score a tying run after a bases loaded walk brought Trinity Ybarra home. The Tigers bats came alive in the top of the 12th to bring four runs across, but the Renegades would not go away silently as Altantis Rede sent a grand slam over the centerfield fence to tie the game and then Natilee Parrish bombed a walk-off home run to clinch the game one victory.

Ariana Gutierrez pitched all 12 innings with 2 strikeouts and 20 hits allowed.
