Softball Adds Two More Victories to their Season

Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade softball team hosted both the Siskiyous College Eagles and the Ventura College Pirates at the Dean and Adah Gay Sports Complex on Saturday and came away with wins from both teams,  9-1 and 5-0 with BC ending the day with a total of four home runs. 

In the first game, Bakersfield started the scoring drive in the second inning with a run from Anika Romo who scored from a double by Destiny Cuellar. BC scored two more runs at the bottom of the third to take a 3-0 lead, from Kady Smith tripling on a fly ball to right field for Shelbie Valencia and Shelby Buchanan to score. Siskiyous answered back with a single home run (3-1). The Renegades ended the game at the bottom of the sixth with a single run for Buchanan to score and then Romo hitting a grand slam in the fifth and added a single in the sixth. The Eagles were unable to score another run.

In the second game, Bakersfield got their offense started when Cuellar doubled scoring two runs. Pitcher Talia Nielson didn't allow a single run against Ventura and threw a complete shutout. Nielson took the win for BC going seven innings, stiking out 15 and walking zero. As a team the Renegades did not commit a single error.

They now move to 9-4 on the season and will travel to take on Porterville College on Tuesday March 1st and add five road games before returning home on the 15th of March.
