Bakersfield Shuts out Citrus College

Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade softball team hosted the Citrus City College Owls and came away with a 3-0  win with Freshman Talia Nielson throwing a shutout on Tuesday afternoon.

No runs were scored in the first inning but it didn't take long for Bakersfield to start the scoring drive at the bottom of the second. Kylie Havens tripled on a line drive to center field to bring home Marissa Campos and Alyssa Miller

The next few innings were quick until Campos singled on a fly ball for Kristen Burgeis to score and lead 3-0 at the end of five. BC held on to their lead to finish the game with no runs scored against them.

As a team, BC collected 7 hits as the pitching was strong on both side. Nielson ended with 10 strikeouts and Citrus sat down two.  Campos went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Renegades in hits.

They now move to 22-6 on the season and will host a doubleheader on Thursday against Folsom and Oxnard College starting at 3:00pm.
