Bakersfield Battles Tough Loss in Game One

Bakersfield, CA – A late score costs the Bakersfield College Renegades from a game one win against the El Camino Warriors 6-5. BC lost the lead late in the sixth inning after tying the ball game 5-5. The Renegade softball team is hosting the first round of playoffs against the #10 El Camino Warriors and will try their chance again tomorrow.

Bakersfield got on the board early with the first batter up, Kyle Havens, who singled on a bunt and scored on a pitching error. The Renegades held on to their lead until the third inning when the Warriors tied the ballgame 1-1. In the fifth, BC claimed their lead once more from a three run home run by Rylee Price and gave them a 4-1 lead. Unfortunately, ECC scored a two run home run to only trail by one point at the top of the sixth inning and took the lead 5-4 with a double.

Shortly after, pitcher Talia Nielsen doubled on the first pitch, for Marissa Campos to come home and score at the bottom of the inning to tie up the game. The final inning would be the one run the Warriors needed to take game one which they managed to score the necessary one run to go home with the win.

The Gades will return tomorrow for game two for a 2:00pm first pitch, the third game (if need be) will be played at 4:00pm.
