Softball Gets Two Wins over LA Mission at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College softball team hosted the LA Mission College Eagles in a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. LAMC put up a good fight in both games but it was BC who took the first game 4-1 and the second 8-7. 

In the first game, the Eagles were on the board first leading 1-0 after three innings. Bakersfield scored three runs in the 4th inning and added a run in the 5th to take the lead to the end of the game. Freshmen Stephanie Kay, Alyna Ruiz, and Camille Chavez each collected one hit. BC committed zero errors in the field while pitcher Ryleigh Harrison took the win allowing five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out seven. 

The Renegades came out slow in the second game while the Eagles got things moving in the first inning with two runs. Mission went ahead six runs before Bakersfield cut the lead in half, scoring three runs in the fifth. BC knotted the game up at the bottom of seven scoring runs from errors on Mission. The game was tied at seven until sophomore Destiny Cuellar's walk-off gave the team the win. 

With the two wins, Bakersfield improves to 16-11 on the season and 8-2 in conference. BC hosts Citrus College on Tuesday, April 11th for a 2:30 pm first pitch before heading out for four road games the rest of the week.
