Women's Basketball Nabs First Conference Victory

Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade Women's Basketball team nabbed their first conference victory of the season at home over the Citrus College Owls on Saturday night, 65-40.   

The Renegades got off to a hot start in the first quarter going on a 10-0 run to open the game before Citrus was able to find the bottom of the bucket. Going into the half, the Renegades took a 28-14 lead into the locker room.

The second half saw much of the same offensive output from the Renegades as they held the Owls to only 40 total points. Defensively the team benefited from 26 turnovers by Citrus and 15 steals of their own.

Dasia Wandick led the team in scoring with 19 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists. Both Alyssa Gonzalez and Julie Hernandez added 10 points each.

They now move to 1-1 in conference play and 7-9 overall. Up next, they will stay home to host Glendale for another conference game this coming Wednesday (1/15) at 5:00pm in the Gil Bishop Sports Center.
