Bakersfield Wins in a Dramatic Overtime Finish

BAKERSFIELD, CA- On the night of Sophomore Night for the Bakersfield College women's basketball team took on the West LA Wildcats. Despite a bloody nose, a flargrant foul, a technical foul and a hard hit to the head on the court, Bakersfield would come out on top, 70-67 in a very dramatic overtime finish.

The Renegades made sure to not stay too far behind the Wildcats as they started the scoring drive and took the outright lead by six points in the first 10 minutes. West LA ended the first quarter 18-16. Bakersfield was able to close the gap in the second quarter then run off with the lead. BC had its largest lead with 14 points with under a minute left to play in the first half. The ladies in red went happily into the locker room with a 42-30 advantage.

The Wildcats showed no mercy coming out of their 15-minute break by going on a 7-3 run. Unfortunately, that was as many field goals were scored in the first four minutes of the third. West LA started closing in on the Renegades and the period ends with BC staying ahead, 51-49. Into the fourth and WLA caught the Gades, tying at 59 and once more at the end of regulation (62-62) forcing five more minutes.
