Bakersfield Wins over Cuesta College

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College Women's basketball team hosted the Cuesta College Cougars on a Tuesday evening and came away with their third win of the season, 59-31.

The Renegades ran out the gates getting on the board first with a three-point shot made by freshman Gloribelle Narvaez. Cuesta matched the jump shot with three-points of their own to tie two minutes into the game. BC took their lead back and maintained their lead throughout the quarter and into the second quarter. The Cougars outscored Bakersfield in the second quarter but fortunately, the Renegades had built up a large enough lead to go into the locker room, 25-23.

For more than three minutes into the second half of the game, both teams struggled to score. At the 6:34 marked guard Jessica Owens got the first bucket and helped the Renegades keep their lead. Cuesta managed to scratch back at BC's lead and tie the game at 33 points with less than 30 seconds in the third quarter. Bakersfield's took over the game in the fourth quarter only allowing the Cougars to score six points total.

Leading the team was sophomore Elise Enriquez with 24 total points while teammate Laura Arciga had 13 rebounds.

With the win, Bakersfield is now 3-5 on the season. The women will play two away games in December and rest up before conference play begins at the beginning of January.
