Bakersfield Battles Tough Loss against AVC

BAKERSFIELD, CA – An early lead in the first quarter was short lived for the Bakersfield College Women's basketball team as they hosted the Antelope Valley College Marauders on Wednesday evening. The Renegades kept the game close but was unable to hold on in the final quarter to fall, 75-62.

Bakersfield went on the board first and led for most of the quarter until Antelope Valley tied the game with 3:13 left in the first quarter. The tie was short lived as BC's Laura Arciga made a jump shot in the paint. Antelope Valley took their first lead of the night by a single point with a minute left in the first but the Gades would start the second quarter with the lead and kept the lead until the final 12 seconds of the half. Both teams went to the locker room tied at 37 points.

With the second half starting equal, the third quarter remained close with both teams never leading by more than three points and taking turns sharing the advantage. A minute into the final quarter, AVC started to chip away and take a five point lead. With the loss, the Renegades drop to 6-14 on the season. BC will head out for a road match up against Santa Monica on Saturday before returning home for two home games with LA Valley (Wednesday, Jan. 25th) and Citrus (Saturday, Jan. 28th).
