Wrestling dominates Victor Valley in Opening Dual

Bakersfield, CA - The Bakersfield College wrestling team got off to a good start in the opening dual of their conference season in a match versus Victor Valley College.

At 125 Pedro Ramirez won by Technique fall 16-0 over Victor Valley's A. Perez.  At 133 Jared Callison of Bakersfield won by forfeit, as did Bakersfield's 141- Alexis Becerra, 157---Josiah Quiroz and Bakersfield's 165—Jeremy Turner. At 149 pound returning state placer Emmett Kuntz won by fall in 1:41 to pad the team score 35- at that point. At 174 pounds Bakersfield's Michael Jimenez won by another fall as did returning All American Jeremy Maas of Bakersfield at 184 pounds at a time of 1:35. Bakersfield received another fall at 197 by  Kevin Mello in 6:48. And at Heavyweight Jacob Hall won by decision 5-1 to make the final team score 56-0 and making Bakersfield college (1-0) in conference and Victor Valley (0-1) to start the year. "It was a good first match but we need to keep making positive steps forward until the end of the year said" Bakersfield College Head Coach Brett Clark.

The Renegades host the BC Duals today 9/8 in the Gil Bishop Sports Center.
