Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade Women's Soccer team hosted Golden West College at Kern County Soccer Park on Thursday afternoon in a play-in game to the CCCAA Women's Soccer State Playoffs and came away with a 1-0 loss in OT.
Throughout both halves neither team was able to find the back of the net to put points on the board. At the end of regulation the score remained tied at 0-0, which meant overtime. OT rules indicate two 15-minute non-sudden death periods are played and then, if still scoreless, penalties.
Just into the 115th minute of the game (with 5 minutes to play) Golden West managed to pop a shot over GK Brooke McDonald's head that rolled into the goal to put the Rustlers ahead, 1-0. At the final whistle, minutes later, Golden West claimed the victory to advance into the playoffs.
With the loss, the Renegades season concludes. They finished with a 11-6-3 overall record and went 3-2-3 in conference play.
