Women's Soccer Suffers Another Heartbreaker at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA – Fresh from a 7-0 shutout win against West LA yesterday, the Bakersfield College women's soccer team kept a good momentum going into today's game against the Antelope Valley College Marauders at the BC Soccer Field late Tuesday afternoon. However, in the end it would be the Marauders who would come out on top, 1-0.

The Renegades were in attack mode, connecting passes early and putting pressure on the Marauder defense from the opening whistle. In the first half BC continued to stay on their guard to defensively hold on to AVC and not let them score but offensively the `Gades were unable to find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes.

Throughout the second half of the game Bakersfield kept the majority of the possessions on the home goal side but Antelope Valley created more pressure on the red and white. Into the 79th minute, a penalty caused by BC would get AVC to break through and net for the first and only goal of the game on the ensuing penalty kick. Bakersfield created a few more chances at the box but were unable to equalize.

With the loss, the Renegades drop to 2-9-2 on the season and 0-3-2 in conference. Bakersfield will stay at home for a Friday match up against Glendale College at 4pm.
