Women's Soccer Gets First Conference Win at Home Over Glendale

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College women's soccer team took full advantage of the late ten-minute start in the game due to the late arrival of the visiting Glendale College Vaqueros. The Renegades exploited the visiting Vaqueros to win their second home match of the season, 4-1.

An aggressive start on both sides tallied up three yellow cards, two from the visiting side and one for the ladies in red in the first 45 minutes. Swimmingly, three minutes into the first half and Bakersfield would get on the board by an own goal from Glendale. Offensively BC held most of the possession in the game and capitalized on that with a goal in the 25th minute. Midfielder Lissette Garcia snuck the ball in the left corner for her first goal of the season to sit comfortably for the team.

Into the second half at the 60th minute BC would find the net once more. Sophomore forward Rhyen Evans first touch was blocked and the goalkeeper hit the deck in time for the forward to tapped it in again right behind to give BC a third goal. Just when both sides were running out of energy, GC found the net in the final six minutes of the game however sophomore Emily Lostetter wanted a piece of the action as well. Lostetter scored her fourth goal of the season to run away with the win.

With the win, the Renegades hold on to a 3-9-2 record on the season and 1-4-2 in conference. They will now head out on the road for two games. Tuesday (Oct. 29), they will take on the College of the Canyons and Friday (Nov. 1), they will travel to Citrus College.
