Renegades Drop 2-0 Home Match

Bakersfield, CA – Bakersfield College women's soccer team hosted the (8-4-1, 5-2-1) College of the Canyons Cougars on Tuesday afternoon. A much-improved Renegade team this time around, as the team was able to hold the strong offensive team to only two points in the contest. The last time the two teams met, Cougars were able to nab a touchdown from BC at their home.

COC found the back of net early in the game, (10 minutes) taking a header from the right side of the goal from a Cougar corner kick. Canyons consistently played aggressive forward trying to take advantage of Bakersfield's last meeting. The Gades managed to keep their guard up and hold them defensively despite the Cougars taking nine shots on goal just in the first half.

Into the second half and the Renegades were able to get several more touches to start moving the ball in the right direction. BC had four shots on goal in the second but couldn't get one pass the line. Up until the final minute of the game (89th) Bakersfield looked like they would be able to hold COC to one goal, but the Cougars doubled checked their win with a goal they had been trying to make all contest.

Goalkeeper Sierrah Smith tallied the contest with six saves.

With the home loss, BC moves to an overall record of 3-9-1 and 1-7 in the conference. The Renegades will stay at home and play against Citrus on Friday, October 29th at 4 PM on the Bakersfield Soccer Fields.
