Women's Tennis notched their eighth victory of the season with a win over Santa Barbara on Valentine's Day;

BC Women's tennis took their sparkling 7-0 record on the road Tuesday afternoon to battle conference powerhouse Santa Barbara and try took care of business with a resounding 7-2 victory. Singles play started first and the lady gades shined winning 5 out of 6 matches to clinch the match right then and there. Paige Darstein disposed of Brenna Casey 6-3,6-1 at #1 singles and Riley Tucker followed suit at #2 with a 6-1,6-1 win against Laura Berther. At #4 and #5 Kaylee Defrees and Arianna Acevedo were both pressed by solid players but came came away with tough straight set victories. These 2 matches were the turning point in the overall match. If we lose the first set in those matches is a huge hill to climb and who knows what happens. But the girls got tough played smart and followed their first set wins with strong 2nd sets. Serena Contreras took care of business as usual at #6 with a 6-0,6-1 win over Josephine Pulver. The battle and fight was on full display from the girls today in singles. They really it tough. Consistency was the name of the game for them. They continued to make the extra ball and that has become the motto of this team. Make the extra shot.

In doubles play, #1 team of Tucker & Defrees took down SBCC team of Bunderson and DeLira 8-2. A little bit of revenge for this team as DeLira took out Tucker and Defrees in the semifinals of the western conference tournament. At #2 Aguilar and Acevedo had a tough time with Berther and Adelman and lost 8-3. At #3 the newfound team of Darstein and Moreno took down Pulver and Jensen 8-3.

The BC Women's tennis team is on a roll right now and we are excited and anxious to keep the momentum rolling. I could not be more proud of this team. The fight and strong mental attitude of this team is unmatched. This will take us a long way. With the win today we are 3-0 in conference play. We can control our destiny if we finish the first round of conference strong. The future is looking good. For now we'll enjoy this win and our 8-0 record and get back to work tomorrow. It will be short lived as we play Santa Monica Thursday and 2015 singles and doubles state champion Myra Jovic will be giving us all we can handle. But we are ready to take on the challenge.
