Darstein and Sanchez Advance to Conference Finals

Ventura, CA - The Renegade Women's Tennis team traveled to Ventura College, host of the 2019 Western State Conference (WSC) Tournament. 

In the singles draw, Ashlyne Aguilar, Alexis Strange, Jacqlyn Zavala and Zoe Butter all advanced past their first round opponents, but fell in the second round. Paige Darstein and Kayleen Sanchez both advanced past the quarter finals and semi-final rounds to set-up an all-BC final. The two will face off against each other for the WSC individual championship this coming Friday (4/12) at 11am at Ventura College. 

In doubles, Zavala/Strange made it all the way into the semi-finals round after receiving two default wins. Darstein/Sanchez also will appear in the semi-finals round after beating their first round match 8-0 and second round match, 8-4. Doubles semi-finals and finals rounds will also be played this coming Friday (4/12) at Ventura College at 1pm and 3pm respectively.

The team also cleaned up in WSC Conference awards as follows:

All-Conference First Team

#2 Singles - Paige Darstein 


All-Conference Second Team

#4 Singles - Katelyn Wernhart

#5 Singles - Zoe Butter

#6 Singles - Ashlyne Aguilar

The Renegades will appear in return to finish up the WSC tournament this coming Friday and also are waiting to hear if they will make an appearance in the SoCal Regionals.
