Women's Track and Field Finish Season at CCCAA Championships

WALNUT, CA - The Bakersfield College women's track and field team had qualifed six women and one men over the past weeked and competed at the CCCAA Championships in Walnut, California where it is home of the MT SAC Mounties. 

 

From the men's side, Tucker Monaco competed in the Decathalon. Monaco qualified over a month ago at the SoCals Decathalon. At the state meet, the lone men's track and field athlete finished 11th after taking first place in the 1500 meter portion of the event. 

The women had two finish as All-Americans, Rain Gomez and Julie Johnson. Gomez finished fourth in the 1500m event while Johnson placed fourth as well in the 400m. 

Both women above also competed in the 4x400m relay team with Crystal Raya and Kimberly Luciano just missing another shot of an All-American title placing 5th. Raya also took a fifth place finish in the 3000 steeplechase, an event she had only competed in four times before this. 

Amaya Williams was the final women track athlete and took 9th in the 400m hurdles. 

On the field side, Zaila Clark finished her season with a fifth place mark after becoming the SoCal Champion the week before while teammate Tearra Haney placed 12th in the shot put.
