Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College women's volleyball team took on the #5 ranked Moorpark College team Friday night in the Gil Bishop Sports Center and came away with a 3-1 victory to move to 12-2 on the season.

BC fell behind early in the first set, but came back to win it 27-25. In the second set the Renegades quickly stormed in front but came up to short losing, 25-23. Moving to the third, BC took the momentum back with a 25-20 victory. The Renegades wrapped up the match win taking the fourth set 25-17

Leading the way for BC was Penelope Zepeda with 19 kills and Lanie Camarillo with 18. Jessica Merante added 30 digs on the evening.

"It felt amazing to win because we had a rough start in the beginning and we didn't really have our rhythm going," said Merante after the match, "but throughout the game we were problem solving, working together and going point by point not trying to get ahead of ourselves. We were very composed."

Coach Carl Ferreria commented, "That's a big win for us. It's a great win. Probably our highest-level execution match. We have had really good matches we've played, but we haven't played a match where we've had to follow a scouting report, execute a scouting report and then be mentally trough inside the scouting report because there's so much resistance going on. So it's a big-time win for us."

Next up, the Renegades head on the road to face LA Mission College on Wednesday, Oct. 3rd at 6pm.
