Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College women's volleyball team traveled to Solano College, host site for the 2018 CCCAA Women's Volleyball State Playoffs, and played Fresno City College on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the tournament. The level of play between both teams was equally matched, but Fresno City came out on top 3-1 to advance to the semi-final round.

In the first set both teams exchanged the lead multiple times before Fresno went on a run and pulled away to win, 25-17. In the second, the Renegades went point for point with the Rams and even came back from match point at 24-21 to tie, but Fresno ended up taking the set 26-24.

The Renegades came storming back in the third set to avoid the sweep, 25-12. The fourth set went point-for-point with Fresno taking advantage late to win 25-12.

"No excuses whatsoever", said Coach Carl Ferreira after the match, "I thought Kohra Garcia payed phenomenal. That's the best team we've played all year. They put so much pressure on us with 30 feet of net. Very rarely do you get a team that can score points at every single position…Not a lot of separation of teams at this point."

With the win, the Renegades season concludes with an overall record of 25-2 and a final state ranking of #5 (final rankings here). They finished with a perfect conference record at 8-0 and an outright WSC conference championship. The last time the Renegades advanced this far in the post-season was 2009.
