Volleyball Remains Undefeated at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA- Coming off a home win on Wednesday gave the Bakersfield College's volleyball team just the momentum they needed to take a straight set sweep against the Glendale Vaqueros, 3-0.

Head volleyball coach Carl Ferreira credits the win to an entire team effort, "Every single player got to play, even freshman Lily Bowen. We take a lot of pride on how we train the entire roster, so this was awesome to have everyone play. It's great to see your starters cheering on the bench. It was awesome how we played today."

The 'Gades came out the gate with a 10-3 lead to open up and shut the door on the Vaqueros in the first set. Glendale took three timeouts to try and regroup but BC ran away with the set, 25-6.

The Vaqueros got a much-needed wakeup call from the first set. In the second set both teams went on a 10-10 run exchanging shots but BC would ultimately take the set again, 25-17.

Bakersfield's momentum continued rolling despite the third set starting out closer. The Renegades only led by 1 before going on a 3-0 run to force the Vaqueros to take a timeout. Glendale would give BC a little pressure by going on a 3-0 run themselves. In the end the Renegades would hold them just to that run and sprint out to take the set, 25-13.

Leading Bakersfield was middle blocker Alyson Dees with 11 kills followed by Lannie Camarillo with 10 kills. Sophomore Jessica Merante assisted the team a total of 16 digs.

The Renegades will return back to the Gil Bishop Sports Center on Wednesday, October 2nd to take on Citrus College at 6 pm. Currently, BC remains undefeated at home with only 2 losses on the season and none in conference.
