Renegades Remain Undefeated at Home on Sophomore Night

Bakersfield, CA – Ten sweeps, is what the Bakersfield College women's volleyball tallied after defeating the West LA Wildcats in a reschedule match from a few weeks back due to covid protocols. The Renegades went 3-0 on Sophomore Night.

In the first set the Gades got on the board first and went on a 8-0 run to force the Wild Cats to take a timeout. WLA got in their first point at 9-1 but BC extended their lead and finished the first set, 25-10.

A closer set for the second, as it would be West LA taking an early lead, 11-4. The Wild Cats led by eight points at one point until the Renegades tied the game at 17 and again at 21. Bakersfield went up four points, while WLA only added one more in the second set, 25-22.

Once again Bakersfield got on the board first and led the entire third set. BC would again force a Wild Cat timeout after taking a 7-0 run. Fortunately, West LA would only tally 11 points in the third and BC ran with the set, 25-11.

Leading the Renegades tonight was middle blocker Tia Jules with 16 kills and 1 error and outside hitter Meagan Williams with 9 kills and 1 error as well. Sophomore Francesca Hernandez helped the Renegades with 20 assists and Yuliana Rivera provided 16 digs.

With the win, the Renegades move to 16-1 on the season and 9-0 in conference. Up next, they will play their final regular season match at Santa Monica tomorrow at 6pm.
