Bakersfield Falls to Canyons at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College women's volleyball team were looking for their revenge against the College of the Canyons in the second half of conference play because they lost to the Cougars 0-3 with very close sets. Unfortunately, the Renegades were unable to rally to comeback and beat COC and fell to them again, 0-3.

In the first set, Canyons jumped out the gate to take a 6-1 lead to force Bakersfield to take an early timeout and regroup. The timeout helped BC as they went on a 5-2 run, but COC kept their cool and took a commanding 16-9 lead before the next timeout. The Gades only added two more points and the Cougars grabbed the first set, 25-11.

BC found themselves down again at the start of the second set by eight points until the Renegades started crawling back at the Cougars lead, 12-15, which force them to take a timeout. Unsuccessfully, Bakersfield could not keep up with the COC's dominance and lost the second set, 18-25.

In the final set, it would be the Renegades on the board first and take their first lead of the night. The third set was as tight as it can be with each team going point for point and tying the set several times. Sadly, Canyons ended the set with a kill that Bakersfield could not save, 25-22.

With the loss, BC moves to a 9-8 overall record and a 5-3 conference record. The team will play two more road matches before returning home for their sophomore night on Friday, November 4th to take on Citrus.
