Renegades Compete at ELAC Open

The Bakersfield College women's wrestling team battled through a competitive field at the ELAC Open over the weekend.

At 110 pounds, Jennifer Salinas Cisneros led the way for the Renegades with an impressive third-place finish. After advancing to the semifinals with a first-round fall, Salinas Cisneros responded with two dominant wins on the backside of the bracket, including a technical fall victory (10-0) in the third-place match.

Mikayla Weller also secured a fourth-place finish at 117 pounds, showcasing a strong tournament run. Weller opened with back-to-back dominant wins, including a technical fall and a first-round pin, before battling back through the consolation bracket to reach the third-place match.

At 103 pounds, Celia Esquivel advanced to the semifinals after a quick pin in the quarterfinals. She ultimately placed sixth after a hard-fought run through a deep bracket.

In the 131-pound division, Iris Ambriz showed resilience, bouncing back with a pin in the consolation rounds to earn a fifth-place finish.

Rounding out the lineup, Cristal Chavez competed at 145 pounds, gaining valuable experience against tough competition.

The Renegades wil host one final dual on Wednesday April 15th at 6pm against Fresno.
