Baseball win 3-2 over Canyons

BAKERSFIELD, CA—In a tightly contested matchup at Bakersfield, the visiting Canyons of the Canyons baseball team fell short against the Bakersfield College Renegades, 3-2.

Bakersfield struck first, scoring a run in the second inning off an RBI single by Luis Fuentes. Canyons responded in the top of the third with a run of their own, tying the game at 1-1. The game remained deadlocked until Bakersfield pulled ahead with another run in the third inning, courtesy of an RBI single by David Escobar.

The Cougars managed to fight back at the top of the ninth inning to tie the score 2-2 with an RBI single. However, Bakersfield reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the ninth, with Luke Shaw driving in the winning run on a sacrifice fly.

BC's Manuel Herrera pitched well, going the distance and allowing just two runs over nine innings while striking out five. His strong performance on the mound helped Bakersfield secure the victory.

With the win, Bakersfield now moves to 5-15 on the season and 3-2 in conference play. BC will head out for the final game in the three-game series against Canyons, where it's currently tied 1-1, and then return home to host LA Mission on Tuesday, March 19th and March 22nd.
