Lynn Kennedy is a veteran coach, educator, and athletics administrator with three decades of leadership experience across NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NAIA, and High School athletics. Recognized for building winning cultures grounded in integrity, accountability, and studentathlete development, Kennedy has established an exceptional record of competitive success, academic achievement, and organizational leadership throughout his distinguished career. Kennedy holds a Master of Physical Education degree from Pacific Lutheran University and an MBA from New Mexico Highlands University.
In addition to his coaching accomplishments, Kennedy brings extensive experience in higher education and professional sports administration. He has served 19 years as adjunct faculty in Kinesiology and Physical Education. Kennedy also spent 11 years with the Seattle Seahawks organization in roles spanning facilities operations, scouting, and equipment management, gaining valuable experience within one of the NFL’s premier franchises. Complementing his coaching and professional sports background, he has also served 13 years as a compliance director, overseeing NCAA and NAIA compliance, governance, and student-athlete eligibility while ensuring institutional integrity and operational excellence.
Kennedy recently engineered an impressive turnaround at Metropolitan State University of Denver, leading the program from six wins the previous season to 15 victories and a postseason berth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time in three years. Prior to MSU Denver, he guided the program at McNeese State University through a transformative period, revitalizing the Cowgirls program and leading the team to back-to-back Southland Conference Tournament appearances for the first time since 2017.
Before McNeese State, Kennedy made a significant impact at Portland State University, where he led the Vikings to the 2019 Big Sky Conference Tournament Championship and only the second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. At Southern
Oregon University, Kennedy built one of the NAIA’s most respected programs, compiling 208 victories over 10 seasons.
In 2002, Kennedy took over a New Mexico Highlands University team that had won only four games the previous season. He led the Cowgirls to the Rocky Mountain AthleticConference West Division title in 2004–05. That season, NMHU ranked No. 9 nationally among NCAA Division II’s Most Improved Teams and advanced to the RMAC Tournament semifinals, narrowly missing a national tournament berth.
Throughout his career, Kennedy has consistently developed competitive, academically focused programs while mentoring student-athletes to succeed both on and off the court. His extensive background in coaching, athletic administration, compliance, higher
education, fundraising, and professional sports operations reflects a rare combination of leadership, vision, and organizational expertise.
